The LearnDash Essay Rich Text Editor add-on provides your students with a rich text editor for the essay question type. This allows your students to submit essay-type answers using all common text formatting options.
Installation
- Install the LearnDash plugin & activate it.
- Install the LearnDash Essay Rich Text Editor add-on and activate it.
LearnDash Essay Rich Text Editor
Navigate to LearnDash > Quizzes and select the quiz you want to enable the Rich Text Editor for. Next, select the Settings tab and enable the “Rich Editor for essay type” option.
The Rich Text Editor will appear in the essay question type answer box when the quiz is attempted.

1. What formatting options are provided with the rich text editor?
Almost all the most commonly used text formatting options are available with the rich text editor.
2. Will the Rich text editor be able to submit files in the answer?
No, the file submission option will only be available if the essay question type is configured to accept file submissions.
3. Is there any character limit that can be entered in the Rich Text editor?
No, students can submit answers with an unlimited character count.
